Christian Poetry: Faith Like Seeds

Christian Poetry: Faith Like Seeds

At the banks of the Red Sea,
Israel whimpers,
scared—barely
holding on to a God
they can't see.

Hoofs and chariot sounds
drown
the roar of the seas, the
clamor of Moses,
and the staff he holds which
plants tiny seeds
of faith in the shallow ground
of their doubting hearts.

Bearded man in
flowing robes
stands before a crowd of
cowering souls.
Before him is
a raging sea – God's big test.
He raises his staff
and screams :
" Witness!"

Water begins to
roll back as far
as it could go.
And in the middle,
where water frothed and foamed,
only moments ago, even though
it feels like years,
a path appears.

At the banks of the Red Sea,
Moses heaves a
sigh of relief.

For only moments ago,
his faith
was as a mustard seed
