Burning Altars by Caleb Ayeni

Burning Altars by Caleb Ayeni

Issued to the Levites and the chosen generation,
The sacred decree of our burnt offerings on altars,
Fathomable instructions given so precise and clear .
He created and chose us for a unique operation.
To Yahweh we burn our offerings our being we offer .
We offer our worship, our all with trembling and fear .

Where and when altars burn, priests will be ever present ,
As he is so are we, burning our offerings on our altars.
This eternal existing earthly exercise of us is much expected,
As Noah's burnt offerings sent to heaven a sweet savored scent
So should our continuous sacrifices to God Almighty offer.
As kings, priests, and sons of God Almighty, what is expected?

The earnest eminent expectation is one of consistent burnings,
Consistent offerings that would never lack the burning fire,
Despite the weather, beaten by the rain, caught in the wind,
Burning through terrible dark nights and beautiful mornings,
Though the flesh be weak in pain or in urgent need so dire,
Though the circumstances be harsh, though it be very kind.

Critically, the fire burning on the altar must not be quenched,
Our buoyant best should be towards not putting the fire out,
As priests not sluggish on duty as snails or slothful in business,
Our charred offerings should not be declared obviously stenched,
By our priestly thoughts and actions let it be protected all about ,
Protecting our burning fire to our good and spiritual happiness.

Replenishing the wood on the burning altar morning by morning.
Oh! What other way to a continuous rekindling of burning f ire.
We are the offering, hi sword the wood that always rekindles.
Replenishing of God's word that fuels the offering's burning.
The wood that burns within and sends our scent to God higher .
As we offer ourselves, burning; he uses us for we are his tools.

Laying ourselves as the burnt offering in order on the wood.
The wood, the basis and foundation for our sacrificial living.
For every decision making arises the need for immediate reference
To the manual that dictates our continuous burning and livelihood.
Our continuous service and worship to the one who makes us living.
Altars that keep burning to the one we offer our immaculate reverence.
