Does Believing in the Death of Christ Save You?

You must understand that, the Gospel is shrouded in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. You must believe in all these to be saved. You can't claim Jesus died if you don't believe he was born. Neither can you say he resurrected if you don't believe he died.

The Apostle Paul speaks of the full Gospel as:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

 [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, *how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And so, you must believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died, but that alone does not saves you. For example, the Bible says we're justified or declared righteous because Jesus Christ was risen from the death. 👇
Romans 4:25 KJV
Who was delivered for our offences, *and was raised again for our justification.*

AND SO, THAT IS WHY THE EASTER CELEBRATION USUALLY CAPTURES THE GOOD FRIDAY (DEATH AND BURIAL) AND THE RESURRECTION SUNDAY.

Now let's talk about the death of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 6 : 10
*For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.*

When man fell, God had plans to restore the man unto himself.

God is a righteous God and so he couldn't live with men who were full of unrighteousness

So he gave the Israelites many laws to obey in order to stay in fellowship with Him.

And so when the Israelites sinned, the remedy that God gave them was to sacrifice animals and use their blood for their atonement

But it got to a time that God was not pleased with sacrifices of animals anymore

Hebrews 10:5-6 KJV
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

*[6] In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.*

And so, if God does not desire in sacrifices and burnt offerings again, how will the sins of people be forgiven to stay in relationship with him?

Because it takes blood for the forgiveness of so to take place

Hebrews 10:4-5 KJV
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

[5] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

If you remember, when Adam sinned and God was sacking them from the garden, God sacrificed a lamb

The Lamb that was sacrificed was the Lord Jesus Christ

Revelation 13:8 KJV
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

And so, from the foundation of the world, Jesus Christ was slain. It was only left for him to come and fulfill that

And so what happened when God said he's not interested in sacrifices again?

Hebrews 10:7-9 KJV
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein ; which are offered by the law;

[9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

Jesus said, he's come to do as it is written about him..

What was written about him?

Matthew 1:21 KJV
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Isaiah 53 has the prophecy of what was said about the Lord Jesus Christ

Isaiah 53:10-12 KJV
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

[11] He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

[12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

And so, the death of the Lord Jesus Christ was prophecied by many of the Prophets of old, and so, he came to fulfill what was written about him

But we'll ask ourselves, what was the need for the Lord Jesus Christ to die?? Perhaps everybody will say because of our sins, but can't God use any means to cleanse our sins except the death of his son?

God himself set a law which binded him. The law was that, everything was purified by blood and without blood no sin is forgiven. And that necessitated that, the blood of Jesus Christ be poured to bring forgiveness
Hebrews 9:22 KJV
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

And so, if the blood of Jesus Christ was not shed there was never going to be anything like remission (removal and forgiveness of sin)

The blood of the bulls and cows was not powerful enough to cleanse men of their sins.

Hebrews 10:4 KJV
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

And that is why we have been redeemed (purchased) by the blood of Jesus Christ

1 Peter 1:18-19 KJV
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

[19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
We were bought from the slavely of sin by the blood of the Lamb. We were in the slavely of sin, because the Bible says whoever sins is a slave of sin.. But he bought us with his blood.

1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Ephesians 1:7 KJV
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

but now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2:13 KJV

Colossians 1:13-14 KJV
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

[14] In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

And so, it took the death of the Lord Jesus for all these things to happen

Redemption
Remission
Attonement
Forgiveness

And so, he died to bring us out of the slavely of sin, and to Bring us forgiveness and to restore us to the lost fellowship

Also, the death of the Lord Jesus Christ has brought peace (reconciliation) between us and God

Colossians 1:20-21 KJV
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

[21] And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
Romans 5:8-10 KJV
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

[9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

*[10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.*

Romans 6:23 KJV
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Basically, this is it about the death of the Lord Jesus Christ 😊

I mean how could he.. But for love, he died

John 15:13 KJV
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 10:11 KJV
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

How else do we want to pay him back.. We can't but to live for him

2 Corinthians 5:15 KJV
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

That's why the Apostle said 👇

Philippians 3:7-8 KJV
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

[8] Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Shall we pray over the teaching

Father in the matchless name of the Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for the opportunity to feast in your Word.

Thank you for all that you've accomplished for us in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for sending Jesus Christ to come and die for us.. We ask for your grace to live our lives for him all the days of our lives.. Amen
