Ondo CP inspects worship centres, urges compliance with CCTV order


The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, on Sunday, March 1, undertook a comprehensive security assessment of worship centres across the state.

As part of the exercise, the Police Commissioner visited NASFAT Central Mosque, Akure; St Stephen's Anglican Church, Ipele; St Patrick's Catholic Church, Ijebu-Owo; Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Owo; Ansarudeen Central Mosque, Owo; Celestial Church of Christ, Uso; NASFAT Mosque, Owo; Anglican Methodist Church, Owo, as well as other worship centres across the state.

The assessment, according to the command, was aimed at evaluating the security situation of religious facilities in compliance with the Ondo State Executive Order of 2022, which mandates the installation of Closed-Circuit Television(CCTV) cameras in religious and public places.



During the visits, Lawal enjoined religious leaders to remain vigilant and to institute adequate security measures, including proper screening of worshippers at entry points and the installation of functional CCTV cameras to strengthen intelligence gathering and effective monitoring of activities within their premises.

He also appealed to residents of the state to provide the police with credible and actionable information promptly, emphasising that the protection of lives and property remains a collective responsibility.

The commissioner further directed operatives deployed to worship centres to remain steadfast, proactive and professional in the discharge of their lawful duties at all times.

The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and worshippers across the state.
