The Continental Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Continent 3, Pastor Johnson Odesola, has urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the country’s prevailing socio-economic and security challenges, encouraging believers to remain steadfast in prayer while actively contributing to national development.
Speaking during the RCCG Destiny Encounter programme in Lagos, Pastor Odesola said Nigeria’s current difficulties are not beyond redemption, expressing confidence that sustained prayers, responsible leadership, improved security, and active civic participation can help the nation recover and fulfil its potential.
The cleric maintained that the prayers of Christians have continued to preserve the nation, arguing that Nigeria’s situation could have been far worse without consistent intercession by believers across the country. He described prayer as an indispensable tool for personal and national transformation while encouraging Christians to respectfully speak out on issues affecting society.

Beyond prayer, Odesola called on Nigerians to fulfil their civic responsibilities by participating in elections and contributing to the democratic process. He expressed concern over growing voter apathy, particularly among young people who believe their votes do not matter, warning that such attitudes weaken democracy and limit opportunities for positive change.
He encouraged citizens to combine faith with responsible action, stressing that national transformation requires both spiritual commitment and active engagement in building a just and prosperous society.
