Pastor Funmi Olubakin has urged Christian women to intentionally cultivate strong and healthy friendships with other women, describing such relationships as an important source of encouragement, wisdom, and emotional support throughout life’s different seasons.
Speaking during a church service, Pastor Funmi Olubakin noted that while marriage is a blessing, women should not depend solely on their husbands for every emotional need. She encouraged women to build trusted friendships where they can share experiences, seek godly counsel, pray together, and receive support during challenging times.
The pastor observed that many women often carry emotional burdens alone, stressing that genuine female friendships can provide a safe environment for accountability, encouragement, and practical help. She shared that she still maintains close friendships dating back to her teenage years, describing them as relationships that have remained valuable through marriage, family life, and ministry.

For Christians, the message echoes the biblical principle that believers are called to bear one another’s burdens and encourage one another in love and good works (Galatians 6:2; Hebrews 10:24–25). Healthy Christian friendships provide opportunities for prayer, spiritual growth, wise counsel, and mutual accountability.
Olubakin also advised women to establish healthy boundaries within their friendships while remaining intentional about nurturing relationships built on trust, respect, and shared values. According to her, such friendships often become invaluable during life’s unexpected moments, including family emergencies and seasons when practical support is needed.

Her remarks serve as a reminder that the Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation. Whether single or married, believers are strengthened through authentic fellowship with other members of the body of Christ, where they can find encouragement, sharpen one another’s faith, and reflect God’s love in everyday relationships.
