5 Reasons Why You need Kingdom Prosperity

Society today has made prosperity in the church seem like a taboo and an abomination. What is God's thought on this? Should the believer be prosperous? God's will for us is to the end that we be prosperous and to this end, He has given us the power to get wealth. The Bible in 3rd John 1:2 talks about a wish for prosperity (financially, soul and health wise) over all things that concern believers.

What is the Purpose of Kingdom Prosperity by Akinjobi Oluwagbemisola

Also, in Deuteronomy 8:18, we receive instructions to remember the Lord God: for [it is] he that gives the power to get wealth. Wealth in this context does not necessarily mean money. Instead, it means everything money can buy and all other things money cannot buy. A prosperous believer has good health, wisdom, the spirit of excellence and favour (among others) at work in his life. Money is just a reward commonly used to measure your "coeficcient of performance". Money is a tool for kingdom advancement and should not be your life goal.

Why Do we need Kingdom Prosperity?

  • Prosperity is needed for the establishment of purpose, agenda and spread of God's kingdom. God's word in Zechariah 1:17  says that cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion. The believer should choose to be prosperous so as to advance the work of ministry. It is true that the work of evangelism cannot be too successful without resources at hand.
  •  Kingdom Prosperity is needed to further establish the voice of the church. The Bible in Ecclesiasted 9:16 says Wisdom [is] better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom [is] despised, and his words are not heard. This means that church cannot have a voice in any nation without spiritual influence and strength that comes from resources. Do not be deceived, discipleship is not equal to poverty and hardship. Being a child of God is no direct pass to poverty.
  • Kingdom Prosperity Confirms Our identity with God. Isaiah 61:9 also says that their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they [are] the seed [which] the LORD hath blessed. As children of God, we have been blessed of God,the blessing is absolutely greater than any treasures man can offer. It radiates and runs after us. The blessing turns the life of a man around in the blink of an eye.

How to Access Kingdom Prosperity

A better sub-title to replace this would be How to key into wealth through God’s way. According to scripture in Exodus 34:26, Leviticus 23:10, Deuteronomy 18:4 and Deuteronomy 19:23 among other Bible verses, let us see a summary of ways to access kingdom prosperity.

  • Make God your friend. God is under no obligation to bless his enemies
  • Seek you first the kingdom of God and its righteousness
  • Go out of your way to be a blessing to others
  • Give offerings and Tithes faithfully
  • Become an incurable giver
  • Remain attached to the Anointing. Your prosperity is attached to the anointing.
  • Sow seeds
  • Take care of the poor
  • Pray wealth releasing and Wealth transfer prayers
  • Work Hard
  • Avoid being a debtor
  • Invest with the wisdom of God

Generally, there are four things that determine the level of prosperity for a believer. These are

  • God's purpose for you (Romans 12:5-8). By understanding God's purpose for you, you will stop believing God for your wants and focus on believing Him for your needs.
  • Understanding the Principles of Prosperity (Ephesians 1:11)
  • Your relationship with the anointing determines so much. (Philippians 4:14-19 - with emphasis on verse 15, Psalm 68:6, 1st Corinthians 9:5-9, 1st Kings 17:14) This is because the anointing is the prosperity. By relating with the anointing, your faith makes a demand while Grace brings the supply (Genesis 22:18)
  • Your Location (Physical and Spiritual Location)

To understand the will of God in anything, we have to find out if He included it in the agenda before the foundations of the world. Prosperity was included in God's agenda and it is God’s will for every believer (Genesis 1:27, 3rd John 1:2, Ephesians 1:3-4). Prosperity means more than enough in all things (Colossians 1:13) The Bible in 2nd Corinthians 9:8 talks about ALL grace and ALL sufficiency in ALL things. Exodus 12:36 also talks about abounding in every thing and 1st Timothy 6:17 …. ALL things. All of these confirm that prosperity is abundance.

Another thing with prosperity is the fact that your affirmation of it comes before becoming (Romans 4:18). This means that your faith is enough but then, it can still grow into a larger space/room. This is just as light is good but it is not enough. You need an impartation.

First Fruits

There are many things spoken about first fruits. However, let us establish the fact that:

  • Your first fruit equals giving your most cherished resource.
  • It represents a commitment by God to us and from us to God.
  • It symbolizes that God is the believer’s priority and a great lesson on deliverance (release your Ishmael so that your Isaac can come).
  • All “firsts” under the Law belong to God
  • First fruits is a lesson on Total dependence on God
  • It ensures a future harvest because it is a part of the whole
  • In Hebrew, Bikkurim means the promise to come

Tithing

Tithing today is a controversial issue amongst Christians. There are three kinds of tithes

  • The Priestly tithe (Numbers 6:25)
  • The tithe of feast (festivities, eat. This was given every three years in Old testament)
  • Tithe given to the poor

As believers, you must never compare the prosperity of Christians to that of non-believers. This is because you determine:

  • How you reap (2nd Corinthians 9:6)
  • What you reap (Galatians 6:7)
  • The certainty of your harvest (Galatians 6:9)

You should also make a choice to be prosperous. Give yourself permission to succeed. Culture and society has made it seem like it's wrong for a believer to be prosperous, you have to change that mindset in you in order to enter into kingdom prosperity.

Finally, possess the light of God and never abandon His word. It is the only path where the light shines brighter daily and never dims. Wealth outside of Christ is a waste! Walk in the covenant. Tithe regularly, give to the needy, sow seeds to anointed men of God. Respect and honour God's anointed. Be faithful in all  kingdom assignments you have been given. You should also study Bible Characters and how they prospered. There are many Bible characters a believer can study to understand this subject of kingdom prosperity and we have discussed a few lessons from the life of Abraham, Joseph, Job, David, Solomon and king Hezekiah among others which can be helpful in your study.
