There's Nothing Impossible with God: Gospel Today Devotional - 16th December, 2023

KNOWING GOD SERIES

The Lord through this series has indeed opened our eyes to quite a number of things about himself. I want to believe you have been blessed even as I have as well. In the course of this study, we have come to see some of the essential attributes of God. The fact that these traits define God himself, and God himself are the traits that we have talked about, and we have seen how that as believers we need to live our lives such that these traits as seen in God who is our Father is also seen in us. Praise God. Today, we shall be going further to see another thing about God that defines him as a person, and I trust the Lord to bless our hearts greatly. Amen.

You see, we cannot deny the fact that there's a vast difference between God and man. We know from scripture (Numbers 23:19) that God is not a man, neither is he the son of a man, isn't it? That means that the traits found in man are not found in God. However, a man who has been begotten of him can exhibits the traits found in him, isn't it? About two days ago, we talked about the fact that God is all seeing in nature, right? From there we established the fact that nothing can be hid from him, and that man is limited in sight, isn't it?

Today as well, we shall be looking at something else that God has, and man does not. It is possible for man to do only the things that are within his ability to do. When a man is stretched beyond his natural ability to do certain things, you get to find out that he is really unable to. The truth is not all things are possible with men. The passage of scripture under consideration is seen below,

"For with God nothing shall be impossible" (Luke 1:37). Behold, I am the Lord , the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 32:27).

As believers, we just must understand, and accept the statement in the last paragraph that not all things are possible with men, and that the only one with whom all things are possible is God. He can do anything and everything. Nothing is ever beyond his ability. God can never be over stretched. He has the ability to do all he says to do. There's no impossibility with God. He is not the one who would complain of anything, there's actually no limitation to how much he can do. The Lord can do all things, and with him nothing shall be impossible. This is just the truth. It is not in God's nature to say this thing is too hard, and that he can't do it. Nothing is ever too hard for him. Glory to God.

Just take a look at both scriptures above, the first one states a fact, and the second affirms the stated fact. It says for with God, nothing shall be impossible. Hold on a second, it didn't say with man, did it? This means that with man, many things may be impossible but not with God. It means that man may have limitations in getting everything done but not with God. It means that as long as God with whom nothing is impossible is involved for it is against his nature to say I cannot, nothing shall be truly impossible. Isn't this a wonderful thing to know about God?

The second is a question by God himself, he first states the fact that he is the Lord, and then asks if there is anything too hard for him? What would be your answer to God having read the first scripture? The answer is nothing, right? Nothing is too hard for the Lord. If Sarah could conceive, and bear a child in her old age, then nothing is too hard for him. If the child of that widow could be restored back to life, nothing is too hard for him. If the woman with the issue of blood could be healed, nothing is too hard for God. This is what you must and should know about the God you serve, the fact that nothing is impossible with him, nothing is too hard for him. This should be your daily confession, and may the Lord cause this word to dwell richly in your hearts. Amen.

Thought for the Day

With men many things may be impossible but not with God, why? Because with him nothing shall be impossible.
