Pastor Theophilus Sunday, popularly known as One Spirit, is a Nigerian gospel minister, psalmist, and worshipper born on 9th May 1987 in Dekina, Kogi State, Nigeria. He is widely recognised for his deep spiritual chants, prophetic worship songs, and his role as the founder and convener of the True Worshippers Concert. He serves as Music Director at Peculiar Church of Glory, Anyigba.
Who is Pastor Theophilus Sunday?
Minister Theophilus Sunday is one of Nigeria’s most distinctive voices in contemporary gospel worship. Unlike many in the gospel music space, his style is not built primarily on performance — it is anchored on prophetic, Spirit-led chanting and an unusual depth of intimacy with God that consistently draws listeners into a place of encounter.
He is popularly called One Spirit — a name that reflects both his ministry’s mandate and his personal conviction: that mankind was originally created as spirit, and that the highest expression of worship is restoring man to oneness with God in the same way a bride is one with a husband. In his own framing, man is the Church and Christ is the Husband, and his music exists to close that distance.
His songs have spread across Nigeria and beyond through WhatsApp, YouTube, and word of mouth in ways that few Nigerian gospel ministers have experienced — with listeners consistently reporting that his chants arrest them in the middle of daily activities, drawing them into spontaneous prayer and tears.
Popularly known as One Spirit, Minister Theophilus Sunday is called with a mandate to make man one with God in marriage as man is the church and Christ the husband man. His ministry uses worship as an instrument to bring the church to a deep fellowship with the Holy Spirit. A Psalmist, Minister Theophilus Sunday is renowned for his gospel chant songs which are identical to that of Evangelist Lawrence Oyor. His songs are spirit-filled and stir every listener's hunger for God.
Pastor Theophilus Sunday gave his life to Christ in the year 2003.
Minister Theophilus grew up in Kogi State and after the completion of his primary school education, he enrolled at the Ochaja Boys Secondary School, Ochaja, Kogi State for his Senior School Certificate Examinations. He thereafter proceeded to the Kogi State University (KSU), Anyigba, where he obtained a degree in Theatre Arts. Upon his graduation from the university in the 2011/2012 academic session, Minister Theophilus Sunday enrolled for the National Youth Service Programme (NYSC) on 5th November 2012. He completed the NYSC scheme service year on October 10th 2013.

Minister Theophilus Sunday, like many other gospel music ministers, is known in the Christendom for the impacts his songs have made in the lives of people. He has been to various gospel events and churches in Nigeria, spreading the gospel through his music. He has also been invited to several higher institutions in the country.
Minister Theophilus Sunday is also the convener and regular host of the True Worshippers Concert, an expression of the World Worship Conference. It is a concert birthed from a mandate to make men as God through the ministry of Worship and make men spirit as it was the original makeup of man. With the first edition which held between May 19th and 21st, 2022 in Lokoja, Kogi state, the True Worshippers Concert is a call to spirit-hood.
Like many ministers of the gospel, Minister Theophilus Sunday is under spiritual covering and his spiritual father is the revered Apostle Arome Osayi.
Minister Theophilus Sunday is happily married to his heartthrob, Ashley White, a Jamaican real estate professional and former beauty Queen. They got married on 13th April, 2024 and they’re blessed with a son, God’s Mystery
