The Founder and Senior Pastor of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (popularly known as Winners’ Chapel), Bishop Dr. David Oyedepo, has advised his church members to give kidnappers his phone number if they are ever abducted, saying that he has the spiritual authority to secure their release.
Bishop Oyedepo made the statement during a recent service at the church’s Canaanland headquarters in Ota, Ogun State. A video clip of the sermon later went viral on social media.
“If anybody picks you, give them my number,” he told the congregation.
Bishop Oyedepo backed his claim with personal accounts of what he described as divine intervention in past kidnapping cases involving members of the ministry. He said a pastor once abducted was freed after kidnappers were put on a call with him, during which he allegedly warned them they would die within 24 hours if the victim was not released.
In another account, he said a female church member kidnapped in the past was declared by him to be released by 7:00AM., after which he said the abductors began harming themselves and eventually set her free without contacting him.
He urged his congregation to recognize what he described as their spiritual authority, insisting they have power over such situations through faith.
“You have been raised far above the devil,” he said, adding that failure of the church to overcome such forces would be unacceptable.
